Why are they so blurry and fuzzy?\u201d<br \/>\nA rose is a rose&#8230;<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3415\" src=\"https:\/\/bluewave.com\/blogwp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Blurry-photos1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"455\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nayamode.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Blurry-photos1.jpg 1479w, https:\/\/nayamode.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Blurry-photos1-300x197.jpg 300w, https:\/\/nayamode.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Blurry-photos1-1024x672.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/nayamode.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Blurry-photos1-768x504.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 455px) 100vw, 455px\" \/><br \/>\nWhat happened? Most likely the user pasted a very small photo into the PowerPoint file and scaled it as large as they could:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3417\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3417\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3417 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/bluewave.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Blurry_3-300x239-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"239\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3417\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Scaled-up tiny image<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The result is almost invariably\u00a0blurry because there just aren&#8217;t\u00a0enough pixel data in the tiny photo to look good at a larger size. The user is understandably frustrated and wonders if maybe Bluewave could work some magic on the image to fix it.<br \/>\nUnfortunately, the answer is no. The image quality for a small image cannot be improved unless we have the original high resolution version to work with. Only then can we\u00a0make the image look\u00a0high quality\u2014with a high-quality source image at the correct size without scaling.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s also possible that a perfectly good image, at an appropriately-high resolution, was inserted in the PowerPoint file, but the next time it is opened the image looks fuzzy. In this case,\u00a0the document&#8217;s\u00a0author (or someone who has edited the presentation\u00a0and passed it on) has likely set the file to compress images each time it&#8217;s saved. Follow these steps to fix the problem:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>On the File menu, select Options &gt; Advanced. Under Image Size and Quality, you can tell PowerPoint (2013\/2016 and Office 365) to compress all images in the file or not, and by how much.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3418\" src=\"https:\/\/bluewave.com\/blogwp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Photo_compression6-640x285-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"530\" height=\"236\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nayamode.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Photo_compression6-640x285-1.jpg 640w, https:\/\/nayamode.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Photo_compression6-640x285-1-300x134.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 530px) 100vw, 530px\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Print (220 ppi):<\/strong>\u00a0excellent quality on most printers and screens (this is PowerPoint\u2019s default ppi setting)<br \/>\n<strong>Screen (150 ppi):<\/strong>\u00a0good for Web pages and projectors<br \/>\n<strong>E-mail (96 ppi):<\/strong>\u00a0minimize document size for sharing<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>To stop PowerPoint from compressing images,\u00a0select \u201cDo not compress images in file.\u201d Alternately, you can leave this selected and instead choose a higher target output ppi settings (the larger the number, the better the resolution and image quality).<\/li>\n<li>Now, when you add a high-resolution photo, PowerPoint will not compress the image&#8211;leaving you with the sharp, great-looking image you chose.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It\u2019s true that larger images can significantly increase file size, but there are ways to deal with this and still retain optimum image quality.
