When was the last time someone changed your mind on a significant issue in the socio-political sphere?
If you’re like most people I know, it was probably a long time ago.
I like the political debate just as much as the next person, especially if conducted over a glass of wine and I confess I indulge in more than my fair share. But other than serving as entertainment for the evening, I confess these have done nothing to either change my views or indeed convince others of the folly of their ways.
The country stands starkly divided with apparently no one willing to give an inch. Surely, we can’t all be right on both sides of the debate. Why then are we all so convinced of the righteousness of our position that we will not give any quarter?
